Matthew Boucher has just accepted a position at NASA Langley Research Center (Hampton, Virginia) and will be working on vehicle flight acoustics. Matt graduated from the University of Northern Iowa (BA in Physics and Music) in 2004. His undergraduate research with Emeritus Professor Roger Hanson focused on string vibrations. After receiving a Masters in Music at Indiana University (Bloomington, IN), he worked as a musical instrument craftsman at S.E. Shires, Co. (Hopedale, MA), where he created custom design solutions and played a leading role in the construction of some of the world’s finest brass musical instruments. His graduate studies in acoustics led him to Europe where he earned a Masters in Acoustics Research at l’Université du Maine (LAUM, France) and a PhD from KU Leuven (Belgium) in the Noise & Vibration Research Group of Prof. Wim Desmet.
